I really like IM. I used to use it when my parents lived in South Dakota. It saved us a tone of money (for long distance calls) I will use hope to use IM when I become a teacher to communicate with people in the building, or at other buildings. I am in an Internship class and the teacher I am working with used IM to contact another teacher in another building to see if she had a master copy of a worksheet that was being used in class that day. She needed to know if the other teacher had a master…

Since the mid 1980's, it seems that teachers have been encouraged to lean towards a crisp clean resume or curriculum vita. Minimalism has its place, yet I notice that this unemotional, often mechanical philosophy flows over into our blogs. Blogs are different that a job applications, and they should contain more, interesting and enticing forms of writing and exposition.
Today, I found a blog,
StigmergicWeb, that follows a different path for profe…

I like the use of text, voice and video in my classroom to help teach material. The use of blogging is not an area that I will use per its over use in the education department. Voice and video I think are very interactive and I seem them as a vital resource in the future of education. An idea of video say we were doing a thematic unit on the jungle we could bring in video from jungle expedition and

While I take a ROADTRIP to Coffeyville, KS, I will put all my efforts into refining my web2.0 skills by using various pieces of equipment to send mobile messages and store content for later projects.
Having twittered about the trip, I will now blog. Part of learning is to take the new and meld with the old....it's called accessing and bridging "prior knowledge".

I would love to collaborate with you and our new colleagues in education. Teaching, over 30 years and using technology as it develops, helps me stay in the first adopter mode....if it is interesting and efficacious. My areas of interest and certification are elementary, middle school science and math, special education and secondary science.
Literature is a passion, and I would be very happy to talk about picture books, writing or related topics. I have an i…

Cyndi,
I've followed you on the sly and love your attitude and style. That's why I am here and will try and contribute, cheerlead, share and scowl if needed :) I've scanned the introductions and WOW (my fav. English word), lots of diversity and lots of energy. Good luck to all and I envision so many dedicated educators, touching eternity and getting so much more than they'll ever give.
YES, you read that correctly. Teaching gives you soooo much. I just came home after 12 hours o

My first challenge is finding the laptop of my dreams as one of my requirements, but I have had difficulty finding one on my budget. If you've followed me on twitter you know it has been a long summer of searching for that ONE great notebook. Needless to say, school starts in 7 days and I don't have one yet. I feel the pressure. What laptops are you using and hopefully loving?

Teachers from the trenches:The TECS 390 students listen to four Podcasts each week and reflect on what they have learned. Talk about staff development at it best!!! They choose three from this list below and then one of they find themselves.
Could you make a suggestion or two for Podcasts they should make sure to listen to in the coming weeks. They access them mostly from iTunes, but I have included the websites as well just in case. Plus is is always handy to be able t…
