TECS 390 Fall 2007-Cyndi Danner-Kuhn

Instructional Technology for Elementary Teachers

I am a Florida State University Graduate and several other places as well, but FSU is my undergraduate degree and so it is near and dear to my heart. I am an educator, teacher, mother, wife, daughter, student, artist, technology nut, Mac evangelist and who knows what else. I am beginning a new position on campus in addition to teacher. I am the director of the Technology Learning Commons (new on campus).

School starts in a week as of this writing and we are not nearly ready to open, the construction is incomplete, the website is incomplete, I have a few student workers hired that begin Tuesday, but need to hire more, all the equipments has not arrived, etc. Anyway, not sure I know exactly what I am doing, but am learning and taking it a step at a time and praying!!! Attached find the brochure explaining the Technology Learning Commons.

Hi my name is Lori Beth Faulkender and I am a senior at FHSU. THis is my last semester on campus and in the spring I will be student teaching. I recently got engaged, so hopefully I will be student teaching back in my hometown of St. Francis and planning my wedding! I am very excited for both! I am currently taking both on campus and online courses through FHSU and I work at a daycare here in Hays.

Hi. I'm Betty Mick. Some of you know me already, but here's my basic intro blurb. I live in the country between Bennington & Minneapolis, about 2 hours from Hays. I am called a senior at FHSU, but I have at least 3 semesters left, going part time. I am on my 3rd degree, taking all my education classes online.
I have been married 14 years and have two boys, ages 12 and 8, who attend school at Bennington, and two stepdaughters in their 30's, and 2 step-grandchildren. My husband runs a cabinet business in Minneapolis, where I am the sometimes-full-time bookkeeper, shop worker, delivery driver, everything person. We are involved in 4-H, where I am a club leader and teach Rifle, crochet and woodworking classes. We have 4 horses, 3 dogs and a cat. When I used to have spare time, I liked to ride and show the horses and train the dogs.
I have several previous "lives" . . . I grew up and graduated in Minneapolis, KS, in 1982. I have a B.A. in Psychology from Kansas Wesleyan in Salina. After a couple of years, I returned to school and got a law degree from KU (1993). I've been a prosecutor, defense lawyer, and guardian ad litem for children, enjoying the last the most. I served 21 years in the Army, Reserve & Guard, retiring in September, 2005, as a Captain in the JAG Corps. I quit practicing law to homeschool my children, and did so till '05, when I needed to work full time in our business. I had taught other people's children at our homeschool co-op, then did substitute teaching at Bennington & Tescott, and basically have discovered I love teaching. I chose elementary level because it is what I have done and liked, but one of the best role models I ever had was my high school math teacher - it's just a lot longer and a lot more rust to brush off to get the math degree!! So now, with my law and Army careers behind, my goal is to be a teacher before I'm 45 and have another 20 years or so at something I probably should have done in the first place because I love it so much.

Hello, I am a senior and am originally from Great Bend, Ks, but I now live in Hays. I have always wanted to be a teacher, first for secondary, but then I realized how much more I lived the elementary grades. I am engaged and am planning a wedding for May 24, 2008. I work at the Hays Area Children’s Center as an afternoon paraeducator. I love my job and can’t wait to get my degree and teach. I normally attend classes on-campus, but I have taken 1-2 online classes per semester for the past 2 years. I am working on a Dell Dimension 4600 that has lots of added memory and video features.

I am from Hillsboro, KS. I am a senior here at FHSU, I will be doing my student teaching in the spring. I am getting married next summer and will probably be living in the Great Bend/Larned area at first. I have taken a few online classes and feel that they aren't too bad. I like to be in class, but sometimes in order to get a class in you have to take it online, and it's easy to work it into your schedule and not have a predetermined time to do it. I want to teach lower elementary school. I have worked with students of that age for a long time, and I really enjoy every minute of it. This is a very rewarding career and I am greatly looking forward to next year

I'm one of the Teachers in the Trenches (TNT). I train teachers in EFL (English as a foreign language) in Seoul, Korea. One of the largest school boards in the world and I give workshops/courses for both Korean English teachers and native speaking (foreign) teachers. I try to bring a lot of technological focus into my teaching, it is so necessary. Students are digital, none more so than here in Korea where you can buy gum with your cell phone....

Diverse background. I've taught adults EFL, taught TEFL courses, taught business ESL and adult ESL for the Canadian govt. Spent a number of years teaching 7/8 and grade 4 in the Canadian public school system.

I have lots to offer, check out my main resource site. Especially the professional development part. The Batcave.I welcome the chance to share and to also learn myself. That;s what it is all about -- like my motto, "when one teaches, TWO learn."

As I said in the Social Bookmarking Forum - I feel like a complete idiot!!! I have been really busy with my other classes, and totally forgot about posting on this site! Well, I am 23 years old and have a 3 year old son named Evan. I want to teach math to 5th and 6th graders, and possibly get an endorsement in math. I am currently living in Lakin, KS, but would like to move once I get my degree.

Hi, my name is Katie (Watson) Short. I just go married a couple of weeks ago. I am in my last year of the Elementary Ed program. I can't wait to be done and have a classroom of my own. I previously graduated from KU with a degree in business when I decided teaching was my calling. So I moved back to my home town of Sublette and began working on a second degree. Besides classes, I currently substitute teach and am a high school volleyball coach and a middle school basketball coach. I love working with children of all ages, but my favorite are the little kids (Pre-K, Kinder, 1st).

Hi, my name is Kelly. I am originally from Oakley. I plan on returning to Oakley next semester to student teach and then move out to Colorado after I graduate. I have 3 sisters and 1 brother. My youngest sister is attended FHSU as well, so I get to see her often. My two other sisters live in Manhatten. I love to visit them whenever I can. My younger brother is home in Oakley. He is only 8. He was a suprise.
I am excited to finally be almost done with school. I can't wait to finally have my own classroom. I would like to teach lower elementary students, but I would take any grade. I would like to someday start a family, but for now, I am trying to focus on school.
