I signed up on the twitter website and I think I will get updates on AIM and/or as text messages on my phone. That will be pretty neat. Can you give us some suggestions of other people to "follow"?

Just go to mine and look who I am following. You will find many of the folks we have been discussing in class.

I signed up for twitter. I don't think I will have it sent to my phone until more people that I want to be up to the minute with join. I am a little confused about why you would do this instead of im. Maybe I just don't think that many people really care what I am up to. I liked the edtech recording with the student. I liked his comment that we need to listen to the students. They really know so much. I liked how the student made fun of the school trying to block gmail and not even getting the address right. I liked the suggestions for twittering while blogging to get ideas from friends and making them better writers. I had trouble watching the interview video. It was like with the online conference. I think it must be my internet connection. The video will play for about 3or 4 sec and then freeze to load more. I can't stand to watch with all the pauses. I am not that patient.

The twitter thing is different from IM in that you can follow someone without having a conversation. I am finding the links and resources shared to be amazing. I think the folks presenting and at conferences that share things as they go are quite useful. I am not sending to phone either. Basically I hate phones!!!

I agree the Twitter links and resources are amazing, so just following someone or some group is helpful. Because I like to follow Leo LaPorte (twit tv, Leoville, and Lab with Leo), I also signed up for an account at Jaiku.

In some ways, I like Jaiku better . Recently, Google bought Jaiku, so there will probably be more you can do with this mobile mini-blogger.

Some contrasts of Jaiku with Twitter. You can comment on a mini-blog directly to your Jaiku comments. You can put all your feeds, including flickr on your Jaiku account, so Jaiku becomes a feed reader, which can go mobile, where you can post pictures.

I'm staying with Jaiku and Twitter, but I will probably stay with mobile Twitter for now;D

Yes, I have found you on Twitter, so I just put "cyndidannerkuhn" on my Follow list.

A note to those who are considering using mobile messaging. you will be charged for texting.

Personally, my daughter(a major textor) and I recently signed up for a family texting plan, so I can receive all the "tweets" that I want. I can turn notifications off and on, therefore I don't have to get mobile tweets from all the followers. Plus, I have a PERSONAL twitter account.

THE ONE THING I DIDN'T EXPECT WAS THE FEELING THAT MY FOLLOWERS ARE WITH ME....SOMEHOW EVEN MORE THAN IM.
I would expect that in an emergency, my twitter followers would be able to get help for me sooner than trying to find a 911 number. There have been documented instances that twitters have helped others.

One of my followers had a power outage during a severe storm at her house, but she still had her cell phone and sent tweets. I made a special effort to "listen to her tweets" just in case. Everything worked out, but her electricity was out for quite awhile. Her followers were also able to give her some tips on how to get hot water, etc.

well that is pretty cool. Thanks for the tips. I haven't ventured into the phone texting yet with twitter, but good to know about charges. Thanks for joining in our conversations.

I had never heard of twitter before. It is kind of neat. It's real simple and doesn't require a whole lot of typing. I think this could be used as a short reminders for the classroom, such as assignments due, tests coming up, website, etc... I just got started so I need to add some more people. My twitter account is http://twitter.com/delaini.

Hmm, those are interesting ideas and ways you could use this in a classroom.

Hi everyone---just signed up to follow Cindi Danner Kuhn. I'll be back shortly and report how it's going. I'm looking forward to this so post away Cindi. We newbies need to get a handle on how this works and what the attraction is. Once I get a little experience with it I will know more about what I can see myself doing with it.

Alright, I am following Cyndi Danner-Kuhn and my old college stomping ground, Oklahoma Wesleyan University. I'm sure I will find more people to follow. It is kind of interesting to think you can find out what people are doing with out having to have a real conversation with them. This would be another great communication tool or info. tool for teachers and parents. Parents could find out what you were doing in the classroom without having to talk to the teacher. I'm sure you can also get great ideas from following some of the teachers or anyone who is on Cyndi's.
