I have not used VoiceThread yet, but I browse through it several times a week, over the past few months. I can see where there are some great classroom applications, so I am developing ways to use it within my curriculum.

In my opinion, tis not a good idea to start a new "thing", and then not follow through. Students will pick up on that and think you are flighty or not serious about your work.

Practice. Evaluate. Implement. Evaluate.

VoiceThread is cool, and it has even more advantages for researchers, genealogists, and families.

Good points Sam, especially on following through. ..... I concur, for personal history it is "the real deal". But so much more.

I've made a blog post about Voicethread and Larry Ferlazzo will feature on this educational blog carnival. Made it mostly to promote a technology which unlike so many other applications, has sound, educational outcomes and focus. It details many good examples (some of my own) but also illuminates a little, why it is educationally "sound".

I've also started another voicethread. Little Red Riding Hood. I thought it would be fun if others would come and quickly scroll through the pictures and tell their own version of Little Red Riding Hood (don't worry, it has a happy ending!). I like this idea because then listeners can randomly select and have a kinda surreal, multi voice telling of the story....let's start, tell your version!

I was not able to tell if I was recording or not. I would push record but there was never any sign that it was recording. But, what I was recording was an introduction to sharks. This is a leveled reader for first grade students that is for science lessons. I wanted to read this to the students to grab their attention. I attached a picture of a shark, I could not get that to show up either.

You will have to change the privacy option to public.....

Here is another voicethread I made the other day. Next week I'll ask my teachers to send students here to practice their English. An example of how voicethread might both be used to practice a certain set of skills/knowledge and be used for assessment by a teacher . (in this case for speaking skills / understanding of basic English).

I actually did a voice thread that I would like to use for my Princess Club. I am mentoring girls in the area of purity and abstinence. I think this would be a great way to get feedback from their mothers, people out there, and from the girls, themselves. I gave some pictures of the book I am using for the lessons and a crown of what I would like to get the girls once this "class" is over. I would like to build on this voice thread, add more pictures, get some comments and whatever else I could do. Hope you like it.

VoiceThread is a very simple program to get to know. My main computer doesn't have mic so I had to switch to my wifes computer and it worked perfecly

Voice Thread was easy to use. I really enjoyed it. I can see using it for many projects in the classroom. However, I also think it is a great tool to be used to stay connected with family and friends that live farther away. It was fun!
